教学目的、要求
教学目的和要求:The course is designed for potential leaders in science and other professions. The goal is to strengthen the capacity of students not only to analyze thoughtfully but also to communicate clearly and persuasively in public settings. An adaptation from one given at Harvard University, the course is devoted to strategies of communication and models of public presentations. It will generate guidelines for a wide range of professional written and oral communications. Students will be expected to produce multiple drafts to achieve a focused and professional style. The course will also focus on other communication challenges, including persuasive public speaking, debate, panel discussion, and press conferences, highlighting rhetorical techniques such as symbolism, narrative, metaphor, and imagery. Other exercises will cover crisis communication strategies.
预修课程
预修课程: prerequisites for the course are fluency in intermediate microeconomics and statistical analysis, with English proficiency equivalent to that of passing the CAS English Qualification Exams. Enrollment will be limited to 40 students.
